BrightNight Signs INR 15,000 Crore Pact with Rajasthan Government for Renewable Energy Advancement
Jaipur, Rajasthan, 10 December 2024 – BrightNight, the next generation global renewable power producer, has signed an INR 15,000 crore agreement with the Government of Rajasthan to boost the State’s renewable energy capacity. The pact was formalized at the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024 in Jaipur on Tuesday.
This collaboration will play a key role in helping Rajasthan achieve its target of 125 gigawatts (GW) of clean energy by 20301 through the development of advanced solar, wind, hybrid, and battery storage systems. The partnership will also drive local economic growth, create jobs, and support India’s Net Zero ambitions.
BrightNight plans to add more than 2 GW of hybrid renewable power capacity in Rajasthan, enough to power approximately four million homes while preventing nearly 100 million tons of carbon emissions during its entire lifetime2. The investment will also generate nearly 5,000 jobs and reduce energy costs for local industries by developing scalable, reliable co-located wind and solar hybrid projects. Construction on the first 600 megawatts of dispatchable renewable power is set to begin in January 2025.
“We are proud to strengthen our partnership with the Government of Rajasthan, one of India’s most progressive states in the renewable energy sector,” said Naveen Khandelwal, CEO of BrightNight India. “This collaboration is a significant milestone in our mission to deploy hybrid and dispatchable renewable energy solutions that can power India’s sustainable development goals,” he added.
This marks the second such partnership for BrightNight in 2024. In September, the Company signed another INR 15,000 crore agreement with the Rural Electrification Corporation to develop cutting-edge renewable power projects across India over the next five years. These initiatives are part of BrightNight’s broader vision to help India transition to a cleaner and more resilient energy system, enabling reliable power availability when needed.
