A Different Approach to Community Engagement

Listening, Innovating, and Delivering Lasting Benefits

At BrightNight, our community engagement begins early in the development process, fostering a transparent partnership that actively incorporates community feedback into project design and ensures the creation of lasting benefits throughout the project’s operational life.

Our Process

We know communities have a choice when it comes to supporting new renewable power We understand that communities have a choice in supporting renewable energy projects, and we believe the right choice is a partner that works hand-in-hand with its community through a transparent, collaborative process—unlike the typical model, which often pits community members against infrastructure proposals developed and permitted in isolation, without meaningful public input.

  • Landowners

Work with our landowner partners to learn about the community and begin introducing ourselves.

  • Design

Early in the process, BrightNight shares project design details like setbacks, entrance locations, and project footprint for early community reaction allowing for adjustments to meet local preferences.

  • Permitting

BrightNight follows local permitting processes while incorporating community information meetings and regular project events whether its required or not. Community meetings feature BrightNight experts from development, engineering, safety, and operations available to answer any question.

  • Construction

Once a project is fully permitted and construction begins, community members can expect regular progress updates via our community newsletter. We also regularly host project tours for local groups and organizations interested in learning more about renewable power.

  • Operations

As an independent power producer, BrightNight is most often the long-term owner of its projects which means, we’ve joined your community! We want to be a good neighbor and so ongoing operations will mean easy access to BrightNight to ensure the project’s operations and maintenance continues to meet community expectations.

BrightNight approached us about utilizing our family farms for a renewable energy project. Throughout the relationship, BrightNight has been transparent and professional. They helped us understand the process required to move from concept to operation. The partnership with BrightNight allows us to generate annual income from the land through renewable energy. At the same time, we retain ownership of the land for future generations without it being developed permanently.

Interested in becoming a landowner partner?

Our projects are possible through landowner partners across the United States. You might be surprised to learn that renewable power projects rarely purchase land used to site a project, most projects are built on land leased for the life of the projects. Some benefits of leasing your land to BrightNight include:

  • Highly competitive lease rates
  • Allows for farmed land to rest and resume farming at the end of the lease
  • Where appropriate, sheep grazing can resume during project operations
  • Landowners seeking additional income can avoid selling land
  • A valuable passive income for unused property
