David Gil

David Gil is Chief Development Officer at BrightNight and is responsible for leading the development and delivery of utility-scale renewable energy, energy storage, and transmission projects nationwide. He oversees a multidisciplinary organization spanning development, permitting, transmission, real estate, and project management, with accountability for advancing projects from development through financing and execution. He brings deep experience originating, developing, and delivering large-scale energy infrastructure investments, with a focus on advancing scalable solar and storage solutions that deliver reliable clean power.

Prior to joining BrightNight in 2023, David spent over thirteen years at NextEra Energy Resources, where he served as Executive Director of Renewables Development. In this role, he led the development of utility-scale wind, solar, and storage projects across the central United States, overseeing projects from early-stage development through construction.

Earlier in his career, David worked in investment banking and mergers and acquisitions at firms including Callisto Partners and Volpe Brown Whelan & Co., advising clients across the energy and technology sectors.

David holds a degree in economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
