Pepper Hammock Renewable Power Project
Brantley and Wayne Counties: Emerging leaders in Georgia’s renewable energy industry
The BrightNight Pepper Hammock project is an industry-leading opportunity to provide clean, renewable power to Southeast Georgia. This renewable power project, spanning 2,700 acres across Brantley and Wayne Counties, Georgia, will feature 400-megawatts of reliable, renewable solar energy. Using our industry-leading technologies, our designs allow for seamless integration of solar power generation on traditionally agricultural land in a way that preserves the agricultural and rural integrity of the area.
Pepper Hammock’s valuable energy capacity will assist in is capable of meeting growing energy demands in Southeast Georgia, allowing additional industry and jobs in the region. In addition to renewable electricity, the Pepper Hammock project will also generate significant economic value through tax revenue and job creation. During construction, the region will enjoy a significant influx of economic investment and job creation. Once operational, the project will continue to create jobs via ongoing maintenance and generate valuable tax revenue without burdening local infrastructure (e.g., roads, water, waste management).

What to expect
BrightNight projects make a great addition to any community whether they’re moving into the area or right next door. BrightNight project designs feature some of the industry’s largest setbacks, innovative landscaping, and aesthetic fencing. In every project community, BrightNight incorporates community feedback into the project’s design to ensure everyone can be excited about solar in their community. In projects across the U.S., BrightNight has worked with Master Gardeners, home owners associations, and conservation experts on habitat preservation and reforestation in order to maximize a project’s benefits and minimize its impact. Solar project features include:
· Unobtrusive operations – Solar projects operate extremely quietly, with no associated water, air or soil contamination, odors, or light pollution.
· Minimal traffic creation – Most project operations are completed remotely. – The project will only require 5-10 people onsite so project-related traffic is minimal.
· Environmental harmony – in addition to clean energy production, the operation of a renewable energy project is exceptionally passive to its environment and extensive coordination with state and federal wildlife agencies is required prior to construction.
· Site-friendly installation – solar panel posts are driven into the ground without concrete or other materials, so native species and ground cover can continue to grow onsite. At the end of the project’s life, all equipment will be removed from the site, and the land will be restored to its original condition.

BrightNight in your community
Our renewable power solutions and our approach to community partnership are industry-leading. Throughout our development process, we dedicate time and resources to understanding local needs and the community’s vision for their future. To accomplish this, we incorporate community feedback during every phase of the development process. We view community engagement and feedback as valuable tools to improve our project designs and local partnerships. Our community engagement work includes:
- Building local partnerships with businesses and community leaders
- Creating a workforce development program
- Collecting community project feedback and incorporating it into the project’s final design
- Providing ongoing updates to the community over the course of our work
We bring more than renewable power to the communities we serve. By talking with local leaders, non-profit organizations (such as Chambers of Commerce), business owners, and landowners, we learn about local needs and community goals. These can include the need for more job training opportunities, a special interest in utilizing project land for native plant species, or the need to promote the community’s commitment to sustainable energy leadership. We then convert this information into action and find ways to serve the community as a local partner. Whatever the need, BrightNight leverages its powerful team of experts to develop power and partnership.

We are committed to delivering the highest value in sustainability

Water Use
Renewable power projects are ideal to continue delivering power when its critically needed and are capable of withstanding severe weather events. Project sites are designed with water management in mind, therefore reducing flooding and standing water issues.

Agrivoltaics
A solar farm combined with a traditional agricultural activity, such as grazing or hosting apiaries, is referred to as “agrivoltaics.” Agrivoltaics can maintain productive land and reduces vegetation management costs. There are many agricultural uses that are solar friendly; in fact, many plants and animals enjoy the shade from our solar panels!
Project FAQS
Thanks to exciting renewable energy adoption across the United States, most people are familiar with the benefits of solar power. But how it’s developed, constructed, and maintained is complex. We’ve compiled a few FAQs to help address your questions.
